6 Runners From Troy Will Compete In The 2018 Boston Marathon

See who's taking part in this iconic race on Monday.

TROY, MI – Six local runners will be at the starting line of the most prestigious marathon – the Boston Marathon – for its 122nd running on Monday. They will be among 50 runners from the Great Lakes State and joined by some 30,000 other runners from across the United States and the world for this 26.2-mile classic.

For most of these runners, the Boston Marathon is the pinnacle of their career. They have been training years to get here and each had to qualify for the marathon by recording a highly competitive finishing time at a qualifying marathon, such as the Detroit Free Press Talmer Bank Marathon.
To accommodate the gigantic crowd of runners, start times are staggered, based on runners' qualifying times. The first group, the Mobility Impaired class, leave at 8:40 a.m. The next waves leave every few minutes after that.

  • Zaleski, Andrew Zaleski, 51, Wave 2
  • Guodong Pan, 42, Wave 1
  • Dinverno, Christopher Dinverno, 60, Wave 3
  • Sosa, Raul Sosa, 56, Wave 2

  • Mobility Impaired: 8:40 a.m.
  • Men's Push-Rim Wheelchair: 9:02 a.m.
  • Women's Push-Rim Wheelchair: 9:04 a.m.
  • Handcycles and Duos: 9:25 a.m.
  • Elite Women: 9:32 a.m.
  • Elite Men and Wave One: 10 a.m.
  • Wave Two: 10:25 a.m.
  • Wave Three: 10:50 a.m.
  • Wave Four: 11:15 a.m.

The 26.2-mile race begins in Hopkinton and ends along Boylston Street, near John Hancock Tower in Copley Square.
