A 20-year-old person is in police custody in connection to the shooting, according to police.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — An 8-year-old Oakland County girl is in critical condition after being shot in the head Sunday evening, according to Southfield police.

A 20-year-old person has been arrested in connection to the shooting, which took place around 7 p.m. Sunday at Twelve North Apartments on 12 Mile, near Northwestern Highway, in Southfield, police said Monday in a news release.

The suspect is a sibling of the victim and police plan on bringing the case before prosecutors on Monday, according to police.
