Babysitter Charged With Child Neglect

A Rochester Hills woman caring for a pair of infants in Troy was found to have nearly four times the legal blood alcohol limit, police said.

TROY, MI — A 29-year-old Rochester Hills woman is facing multiple charges including child neglect after a recent babysitting assignment went awry. A Troy couple hired the woman to watch their infants for the evening of Sept. 21, but found her asleep and then very groggy after waking her, according to police reports.

The couple contacted Troy Police after she drove away in her 2007 Honda Accord and officers stopped her on Anvil Drive south of E. Wattles Road at about 10:50 p.m.

The officers spoke with her and noticed an odor of alcohol. The 29-year-old admitted to having consumed one drink as soon as she arrived at the home to babysit.
