1. EDUCATION: What changes would you support to ensure adequate funding for K-12 education?

2. VOTING: What changes, if any, would you support to provide all voters with an option to vote by absentee ballot or other early voting methods?

3. PRIORITIES: What are your legislative priorities and what actions will you propose regarding them?

(a) Regulatory overhaul. I agree with Governor Snyder's approach to "reinvent Michigan". We cannot have a regulatory environment that is an impediment to economic growth. Regulations need to be based on sound science and facts, easy to implement and understand and adjusted based on actual results of those regulations. (b) Elimination of the corporate income tax and phase out of the personal income tax. (c) Sustainability of local governments. Consolidation of services across municipal lines should be encouraged by the State and statutory impediments removed.(d)Education reform including more local control.

Howrylak will face Democratic candidate Mary Kerwin on Nov. 6.

Michigan House District 41

Duties: The Michigan House of Representatives shares responsibility with the Michigan Senate to enact new laws and amend or repeal existing laws.

Qualifications: State Representatives may serve a maximum of  three full terms.  There are 110 State House districts which are re-apportioned after each census.
