Cause Of Troy Storage Unit Facility Fire Unknown, Officials Say
More than 50 storage units were damaged by the fire, officials said.

TROY, MI — Authorities are investigating a fire at the Extra Space Storage storage facility in Troy that started early Wednesday morning and damaged more than 50 rental units at the facility.
Officials from the Troy Fire Department said fire crews were dispatched to the storage facility, located at 1150 Coolidge Hwy, around 12:31 a.m. Wednesday.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they said they found a large one-story storage unit building with flames through the roof.

Firefighters said they began hitting the fire with water and firefighting foam while using saws and hand tools to access to the individual storage units. Officials said that because of the large number of units involved and the heavy fire, extra personnel was needed.
Eventually, authorities said, more than 40 firefighters were at the scene, battling the fire for over seven hours. No injuries were reported, according to fire officials. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

More than 50 storage units were affected by the fire, officials said. The people renting those respective units will be contacted, officials said.
