A Child is Waiting: KaseyAlix Loves All Music -- & Birthday Cake!

Hundreds of Michigan children are hoping to be adopted by willing forever families.

By Honey Murray

When nine-year-old KaseyAlix hears a Beatles song or a tune from Elvis, Sinatra, or Taylor Swift -- or the theme from a popular show or movie -- he can usually sing right along.

“Kasey, as KaseyAlix (mare.org #CO9244) likes to be called, loves music and singing along to the radio: any genre! He has a great memory and easily memorizes lyrics,” says his worker. “And he really enjoys playing his electric drums.”

He also enjoys playing “Operation,” the game he received for Christmas.

“My birthday is my favorite holiday, though,” Kasey states. “I like to celebrate by having pizza for dinner and then birthday cake, served on a plate that is my favorite color: blue!”

“Kasey is a loving, sweet, caring boy who’s compassionate – and funny!” says his worker. “He’s got a great heart and truly wants to please others.”

“He can also be shy and, sometimes, introverted,” she adds. “He is an early riser, often up by 5 a.m., and is described, in his current placement, as ‘the sweetest boy.’”

Kasey likes school and receives assistance to help him excel. His favorite subject is math. On weekends he enjoys swimming, reading books, and playing with his toy cars and dinosaurs.

“Overall,” says his worker, “Kasey is a happy, affectionate child. He does benefit from boundaries and sometimes requires redirection with his behavior.”

“He would do well with two patient parents who have time to make sure he receives the attention and supervision he needs,” his worker explains. “His new parents would benefit from knowledge of trauma impact on a child. They would also need to be willing to maintain contact with his siblings.”

“And,” his worker laughs, “to have a love for all kinds of music, sung by the newest member of their forever family.”
