Clark Named Troy Police Officer Of The Year

The city also recognized a commander and a non-sowrn staff person for their contributions to the police force.

TROY, MI – Officer Jason Clark has been selected as the 2017 Troy Police Department Officer of the Year and Sgt. Joseph Haddad as the 2017 Command Officer of the Year. Donald Buckbee has been selected as the 2017 Troy Police Department Non-Sworn Employee of the Year.

Clark's award is an acknowledgment of his "strong commitment to providing excellent police service and personal dedication to helping others," said the department in statement. Clark, who has been with the Troy force since 1999 and an officer since 2004, serves in the Training Section. He is responsible for training employees and overseeing the implementation of training-related initiatives. He also has overseen projects such as an upgrade of the department firing range and manages critical emergency equipment.

Clark is a Troy native, a graduate of Troy High School and the son of retired Troy Police Sgt. James Clark.

Haddad's award is an acknowledgement of his outstanding leadership and management of the Communications and Lockup Sections last year. In 2017, Haddad oversaw three major projects, including a complete renovation of the Communication Section that entailed a new 911 system. Haddad, an employee since 1997, has distinguished himself as someone who can be relied upon to complete difficult tasks.

Haddad is Troy native, a graduate of Athens High School and a volunteer with the Troy Athens Football Program. He was promoted to Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army in 2004 and is currently in the U.S. Army Retired Reserves.

Buckbee's is in recognition of his professionalism. He has been an employee since 2008, and has a reputation as a positive and dependable employee, and willing to assist residents and others with any task. He has often been called to crossing guard duty at local schools and has established a positive reputation with parents and students.
