5 Things To Do in Metro Detroit on Holiday Break

Are you ready for a metro Detroit adventure? Below are a few holiday week activities to add to your schedule whether you're looking for things to do with the fam, friends or solo.

1. Want to skate off your Christmas second helpings? Head to the ice skating rink at Campus Martius. It's $8 for adults to skate, $7 for kids 12 and under and seniors. Skate rental: $3. Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. – Midnight; Saturday, 10 a.m. – Midnight; Sunday, Noon – 8 p.m.

2. See you on the slopes! Alpine Valley, Mount Brighton, and Mount Holly are all metro Detroit ski destinations,

3. Come nighttime, hit the wildly festive Big, Bright Light Show in downtown Rochester. Store fronts are lit up in a merry cascade of colors from 5 p.m. to midnight nightly.

4. Take a trip to the Detroit Zoo to see the phenomenal Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibit. The show features photographs of the most magnificent moments of animals in the wild in places ranging from India to Norway to the Swiss Alps.

5. Treat yourself to a performance by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The world-famous musicians are playing at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Dec. 30. Click here for tickets.
