Georgia Man Arrested, Found With 20 Phony Credit Cards

The man was arrested by Troy Police after trying to buy nearly $2,000 worth of goods from Sak's Fifth Avenue.

TROY, MI — A Georgia man who recently attempted to make a large purchase at Sak’s Fifth Avenue ended up being arrested by Troy Police and charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card. Police reports said the 32-year-old man entered the Somerset Collection store shortly before 3 p.m. and used a credit card to buy $1,850 of merchandise.

A Sak’s clerk told police the purchase was denied and that his New Jersey Driver’s License didn’t appear to be real. The Georgia man left the store and Troy Police officers caught up with him in the mall.

Reports said he was found with several allegedly phony credit cards and then arrested. The man was also found to be in possession of items bought from other stores with the fraudulent credit cards.

Reports said officers took the merchandise for further investigation. Police later located the Georgia man’s rental car and found a total of twenty phony credit cards.

The Georgia man was charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card and Passing a Counterfeit Object, according to reports.
