Letter to the Editor: 'I Will Not Tolerate Bigotry and Hatred in Our Community'

"Apathy put this unknown tea party extremist in the Mayor's chair," writes Troy resident T. Gaines. "Today, we suffer with the consequences of Mayor Daniels' ignorance and ineptitude."

To the Editor:

I will not tolerate bigotry and hatred in our community. Mayor Daniels’ disparaging words and bigotry demonstrate a clear lack of leadership and blatant disrespect for the diversity of Troy. Her defiance, mismanagement and lies continue to embarrass our city while grabbing national attention. She seems blissfully unaware of the pain she continues to inflict upon Troy residents, business owners and city employees.

At the Nov. 8, 2011 election, 74 percent of the registered voters failed to vote. Apathy put this unknown tea party extremist in the Mayor’s chair. Today, we suffer with the consequences of Mayor Daniels’ ignorance and ineptitude.

Janice Daniels has created a hostile work environment in the city government by attacking city staff. She disrespects people’s privacy by trying to impose her religious agenda on the population of Troy. Her failed attempt to close the Troy Library continues to define her poor judgment and misrepresentations. Mayor Daniels seeks to use the government to regulate marriage, despite never having a successful marriage herself.

On Nov. 6, 2012, Troy voters will have the opportunity to express their voice and demand for the RECALL OF MAYOR JANICE DANIELS. I remain hopeful Troy voters shall vote "YES."
