Maintenance Personnel at Apartment Complex Help Troy Firefighters
No injuries resulted from a cooking fire on Friday afternoon thanks to some quick action.

Maintenance personnel at the Somerset Park Apartment complex extinguished a fire that was probably caused by cooking on Friday afternoon, Troy Fire officials wrote in a press release.
There were no injuries, as residents of the apartment at 1920 Golfview Drive., located south of Big Beaver and west of Crooks had fled the scene and alerted their neighbors when the fire started around 3:20 p.m. Maintenance personnel were close by at the time and used portable fire extinguishers to stop the fire from spreading outside the kitchen.
Firefighters ensured the fire was completely out; removed the stove; checked for any fire extension; searched other apartments as a precaution; and ventilated smoke from the building.
