After officers arrived at Huq's home, Marsur jumped from a second-story window and fled through the neighborhood, police said. Within an hour, officers with a K9 found Marsur hiding in a marshy area near the home where the alleged homicide occurred.
A “lockdown” was ordered at four area schools during the search for the suspect, police said. The schools included Smith Middle School, Larson Middle School, Troy Union Elementary School and Wass Elementary School.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Huq's son, Farhan Huq, memorialized his mother, noting that "I really lost my everything. My best friend. My trusted confidant."
"She was a real-life wonder woman who somehow, magically, could really do it all," Farhan Huq wrote. "My mom only knew a life of struggle, with quiet, gracious perseverance. Though she was fiesty at times, she would do things honestly, fairly, and support just causes. She would help needy families, without hesitation opening her checkbook for charity, and labored intensely to found the [American Muslim Diversity Association] mosque that is minutes from our house."
Funeral services for Huq will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the AMDA Masjid at 44760 Ryan Road in Sterling Heights. Burial will follow in the White Chapel Cemetery at 621 W. Long Lake Road in Troy.
