Nov. 8, 2016, Presidential Election: Watch Parties in the Tri County Area

A list of Metro Detroit election watch parties: from the movies to an improv theater.

TROY, MI — Tuesday is the presidential election. Who's ready to party? Or not party? Below is a list of Tri County Area places you can saddle up and watch the Nov. 8 election results come in.

1. Grab your popcorn! AMC movie theaters are joining forces with CNN to broadcast election coverage on the big screen on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Heads up: The theaters are party-specific, so you won't be the only elephant in a room full of donkeys or the only donkey in a room full of elephants. Cost: Free for AMC Stubs members.

Hop Cat: A post on their Facebook page has already set the mood,"Cheers to democracy and any excuse we can find to drink some beer." Hopcat's election watch party is from 7 p.m. to close, and will feature happy hour deals including $3.50 Local 30 Drafts, and half off wings. (4265 Woodward Ave., Detroit)

Briggs Detroit: The sports bar will have TVs tuned into the election from 7 p.m. to midnight and is featuring election-esque drink specials, including "red shots vs. blue shots." (519 East Jefferson, Detroit)

Park Bar: Their Facebook post page reads, "Liberal? Conservative? Confused? The event is free and everyone is welcome to attend and watch." (2040 Park Ave., Detroit)

Social Kitchen & Bar: They're getting the party started early at 4 p.m. with drink specials and half-off appetizers. (225 E Maple Rd., Birmingham)

3. Want to laugh your way through the election? Ferndale’s Go Comedy! Improv Theater is presenting a show as the votes come in real time.
