Oakland County Shooting Victim, 8, Remains In Critical Condition

An 8-year-old girl who was shot Sunday evening in Southfield remains in critical condition, police said Tuesday morning.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — An 8-year-old girl who was shot Sunday evening in Southfield remains in critical condition, police said Tuesday morning.

Southfield Deputy Chief Jeffrey Jagielski said Tuesday that the case will be presented to Oakland County prosecutors Wednesday morning, noting that additional information could be released once prosecutors have decided whether charges will be issued.

Police said Monday that the 8-year-old girl, whose family has not been identified, was in critical condition at a local hospital after she was shot in the head around 7 p.m. Sunday evening at Twelve North Apartments on 12 Mile Road, near Northwestern Highway. The girl had undergone surgery after arriving at the hospital, police said.

A 20-year-old sibling of the victim was arrested in connection to the shooting, but police have not identified that person.
