Fake Concert Tickets on Craigslist; Woman Stores Stolen Items in Stroller

The following is a recap of recent news from the Troy Police Department.

Woman accidentally buys fake concert ticket through Craigslist

A woman reported on Thursday that she met a man in a parking lot at Big Beaver and Rochester roads to buy two concert tickets after finding an ad on Craigslist for the tickets.

The woman paid a man $250, according to a media release from the Troy Police Department, but later learned from Ticketmaster that the tickets were fraudulent.

The suspect, a 47-year-old Roseville man, was arrested the same day in a neighboring city on an unrelated charge, and 14 additional fake concert tickets were found in his vehicle.

Painting stolen in home invasion

A man on the 100 block of Cutting called police Wednesday evening after someone broke into his parents' home.

According to a media release from the Troy Police Department, the man told police he had heard a noise downstairs but thought it was his father coming home from work. When he looked out the window, however, he noticed a strange vehicle parked in front of the home.

The man then went downstairs and discovered a framed painting had been taken from the wall. When he looked outside again, the vehicle – a gold Jeep Cherokee – as gone. Police noted it appeared entry was made to the home through an unlocked door.

Building vandalized with spray paint

Abrasive Brokers was vandalized some time between Sept. 10 and 13. Black spray paint was used to write graffiti on the south side of the building.

Women steal flat irons, mascara from store

Two women are suspected of taking mascara and flat irons from Ulta. According to a media release from the Troy Police Department, an assistant store manager noticed the two women in the back of the store acting suspiciously. The manager was called away momentarily, and when she returned, she discovered two empty mascara boxes and two empty flat iron boxes. 

Both suspects are described as 20 years old with medium builds. One was wearing a black hat, black shirt and jeans; the other was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans and had a purse.

Man steals food processor

A 46-year-old man from Detroit was arrested for retail fraud in the third degree Wednesday afternoon after shoplifting a $189.99 Cuisinart food processor from Sears. The man also has two outstanding warrants for his arrest from other police departments.

Woman stores stolen items in stroller

A 32-year-old Clarkston woman was cited Thursday afternoon for shoplifting two hats, a pair of gloves and two tester bottles of perfume from Nordstrom, which she concealed in her stroller. She was cited for retail fraud in the third degree.

Vandal pours syrup on car

A resident on the 6000 block of Westway reported someone had poured syrup on his vehicle on Sept. 8 or 9.
