Troy Red Roof Inn Robbery Suspect Shot in Police Chase

Police believe the man who was shot in a police chase in Detroit on Monday was the same person who robbed the Troy hotel on Sunday.

The suspect in an armed robbery Sunday at the  off Rochester Road in Troy was chased down and shot by police Monday in Detroit.

Police say a man wearing a black coat, black ski mask, black gloves and black or blue pants entered the hotel lobby around 6:50 p.m. Sunday, pointed a gun at the hotel clerk and demanded money, police said.

"The clerk provided the suspect with money from the cash drawer and then the suspect took the cash drawer, cell phone of the clerk and the clerk’s laptop," a Troy police report said.

The man, who looked to be about 20 years old, fled the scene in a white four-door sedan that was parked in the handicap space, the report stated.

Police said they were able to connect the armed robbery in Troy with other recent robberies in Metro Detroit and pinpointed a suspect. On Monday, Southfield police were involved in a car chase with the suspect who was driving a stolen vehicle. The suspect crashed in Detroit and fled on foot when a Southfield officer shot him in the buttocks.
