Saw Accident Kills Construction Worker In Troy

A Canton man helping to remove an in-ground was killed Wednesday after losing control of a portable saw.

TROY, MI — A 39-year-old Canton man was killed Wednesday when he lost control of a portable saw and it struck him in the neck at a construction site near Long Lake and Rochester roads, according to a Detroit News report.

The incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m., C &G Newspapers reported. The Canton man was part of a construction crew removing an in-ground pool from a residential property. Emergency crews and the Troy Police responded, but the 39-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, the newspaper reported.

A neighbor tried to help the Canton man, but he was dead before paramedics arrived, the Detroit News reported. Troy Police are investigating the incident and the Oakland County Medical Examiner Office will conduct an autopsy.
