South African Orphaned Children’s Choir Visits Troy Church

Zion Christian Church is hosting a free concert featuring the Sound of Hope South African Children’s Choir on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.

These 22 talented children are a part of Key of Hope, a Christian nonprofit, started by SE Michigan natives Dan and Rachel Smither, that helps orphaned children of HIV victims in South Africa. Key of Hope provides the education, food, housing and development these children need not only to survive, but also thrive as citizens and leaders in their communities.

“These kids have never traveled outside of their villages,” said event organizer Sandie Frankenstein. “So, they are beyond excited to be visiting the States on their tour, sharing their music with us and gathering support for children orphaned by rampant HIV in South Africa.”

Admission to the concert is free. Handmade African beaded jewelry will be sold after the concert with all proceeds benefiting the Key of Hope children and supporting their concert tour.
