Standoff Between Gunman, Troy Police Resolved

The man barricaded himself at his parents home for more than 12 hours.

TROY, MI – A standoff between police and a gunman ended peacefully and the man is now in police custody, Troy Police reported Tuesday evening. Further details on the incident are expected later Tuesday.

"We are pleased to say that this ended with no injuries to citizens, officers or to the suspect," Troy Police said in a tweet just after 5 p.m.

Troy Police reported earlier in the afternoon that officers had been in communication with the 30-year-old man who barricaded himself in the Brooklawn Drive home at 3:25 a.m. Troy Police had asked that people avoid the area.

Troy Police first posted warnings of the incident to social media at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Shots were fired outside the home, police said. Shortly after 11 a.m., police reported that a robot had been deployed into the home.

The home belongs to the gunman's parents. Police reported that his parents were initially in the home, but were able to get out safely.
