'They Risk Their Lives Every Day': Troy Heroes

TROY, MI — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

<b>Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?</b>
Dr. Bowman volunteers his time to see the COVID-19 patients on the designated COVID floors at Ascension- Hospital -Rochester. Dr. Bowman has been voted as one of Rochester’s TOP DOC’S and this is why I selected Dr. Bowman as my Personal Dr. Dr. Bowman always sees his patient’s in the hospital, is deeply passionate caring for patients, teaching residents, medical students etc. and commits to providing the best medical care. Dr. Bowman is a rare breed today seeing patients in the hospital. The same culture resides in the entire practice of Doctors, PA’s and staff of the Rochester Family Medicine. I called Dr. Bowman to advise My Mother was admitted -positive to Ascension-Rochester, with COVID-19 from a local nursing home. Dr. Bowman replied to my emergency page and called me first thing in the morning to inform me he was volunteering all week, rounding to see the COVID patients on the floor at Ascension. Dr. Bowman confirmed my Mom was on his manifest for his rounds on the COVID-19 floors. Dr. Bowman personally called each family member with updates. Mom was under the best of care at Ascension- Rochester and with Dr. Bowman. The odds were stacked against my Mom from the onset due to the deadliness of the virus in the elderly population, 101 years of age and condition held back by the nursing home, my Mother did not survive. I want to thank all the staff at Ascension-Rochester, from Doctors, Nurses and aides along with Dr. Bowman for the compassionate care and dedication at Ascension-Rochester. Everyone was so caring and the nurses would speak to Mother telling her she was loved and they were there with her. They even put the phone up to Mother’s ear so she could hear us speak to her in her final hours. They risk their lives every day to care for the COVID-19 patients. They are all True Hero’s. Never give up the fight until a treatment and vaccine is developed to fight this enemy. Thank you for all you do every day, your compassion, dedication and mission to save lives. So many hero’s and angels.
