Troy Business Owner 'Clowns' Around to Raise Money for Charity

As the annual America’s Thanksgiving Parade approaches, local entrepreneur, attorney and community leader Linda Orlans – CEO of Troy-based Orlans Associates and eTitle Agency – is preparing to don white facepaint and a flamboyant clown costume celebrating her 10th year as part of the Distinguished Clown Corps, a group of corporate and community leaders who contribute for the opportunity to trade their business suits for clown suits.

But, being a clown is just a tiny part of how Linda shares her time and her success with the local community.  Having successfully launched seven companies, she believes that we all need to give back and help support others so that they can go on to develop and become the best they can be.  Linda believes that greatness lives within all of us.

Those in search of a role model need look no further – having worked her way through undergrad at MSU and then law school as a single parent, she is living proof of what dedication and hard work can earn.  Her energy is contagious and inspiring and her employees follow her lead in various community and philanthropic endeavors – food drives for Gleaners, coat drives, E-Clutter Recycling, raising funds for local firefighter families – there is a continual focus on giving back throughout the Orlans-owned companies. 

On Tuesday, a national Day of Giving for Hurricane Sandy victims, Disney & ABC teamed up with American Red Cross to raise money for hurricane relief efforts. Orlans Associates and eTitle employees joined this cause to raise money with Linda Orlans personally matching every dollar contributed.

During this upcoming season of ‘thankfulness’ and ‘giving,' Orlans wants to raise visibility within the community on the power of supporting others, spreading the word of sharing and service and the impact it can make.
