Troy Community Center Available as a “Warming Center” During Recent Power Outage

The City of Troy is offering its Community Center as a warming center for residents who may have experienced a power outage due to Sunday evening’s severe thunderstorm / high wind.  Many people have generators or have made arrangements to stay elsewhere, while others may have issues with the cold temperatures and access to water, or just need a place to warm up during the cold temperatures.

“The loss of power during the late fall and winter months are tough on our community, especially for those residents who lose their electricity or do not have access to heat or hot water,” Community Affairs Director Cindy Stewart said. “The Community Center can provide a short-term refuge for those who may need it.”

The Troy Community Center is open weekdays from 5:30 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 7 am to 8 pm and Sundays from 8:30 am to 6 pm.
