Troy Company Helps Humane Society Extend Reach

A new surgical center dedicated Wednesday in Rochester Hills will help the Michigan Humane Society serve an additional 2,800 animals a year.

Three-day waits for procedures to treat non-life-threatening conditions were common before the Rochester Hills Center for Animal Care surgical center – the Michigan Humane Society’s second – was opened, CEO Matthew Pepper said in a news release.

The Michigan Humane Society adopts about 8,000 animals a year. Adoptable animals are given dental care, spayed and neutered, and given other needed veterinary care as needed at the surgical suites.

During dedication ceremonies Wednesday, Pepper recognized the Troy-based marketing firm The Quell Group, which donated $2,000 for an anesthetic machine and vaporizer as part of its “20 Acts of Kindness” initiative celebrating 20 years in business.

Quell Group co-founder Michael Niederquell said Humane Society goals mesh well with his company’s culture and resonate with individual employees.
