Troy Engineer Indicted In Macomb County Corruption Probe

The FBI alleges a Troy man tried to bribe Washington Township officials with cash and a free trip.

TROY, MI — A 56-year-old Troy man was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday for allegedly bribing public officials in Washington Township in Macomb County. Fazullah Khan is charged with four counts of bribery, each count carrying up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to acting U.S. Attorney Daniel L. Lemisch.

The indictment alleges that in 2014, Khan, who owns an engineering firm, bribed public officials of Washington Township with $11,000 in cash, a free fishing trip and a secret financial interest in a property development deal, Lemisch said in a press release. Unbeknownst to Khan, the township officials he was attempting to bribe were working with the FBI.
