Troy Home with 'Monster Garage' Up for Sale
The 3,206-square-foot home comes with a 6,000-square-foot attached garage that was the subject of a publicized court battle in 2005.
A Troy home attached to a massive 6,000-square-foot "monster garage" is now on the market for $290,000, according to a listing on Century 21 Town & Country's website.
The 3,206-square-foot home at 3129 Alpine Rd. garnered national media attention in 2005 when owner Paul Piscopo landed in a court battle with the city over the size of the garage he was building along side his new home, according to a 2005 article by the Associated Press.
Neighbors took their concerns about the size of the structure to the city, saying it would decrease their property values. The Zoning Board of Appeals ruled the structure must be reduced in size or torn down, the South Bend Tribune reported.Â

Then, in January of 2006, Oakland County Circuit Judge Michael Warren reversed the board's decision, saying the city's ordinance did not set a size limit for garages when Piscopo obtained his building permits.Â
The building, described simply as "rare" in the listing, is 150 feet long, 60 feet wide and 20 feet tall and is composed mostly of corrugated sheet metal. The home also features three large bedrooms, 3.1 bathrooms and plenty of living space situated on nearly a full acre.Â
