Troy Police Department I.T. Administrator Receives State Recognition

On October 24, 2013 City of Troy Police Department’s Research & Technology Administrator – Ryan Wolf was awarded the prestigious “Information Technologist of the Year.”  This award is presented by the Michigan Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communication Officials – International (A.P.C.O.). apcointl.org/about-apco.html

APCO International is the world’s oldest and largest organization of public safety communications professionals and supports the largest U.S. membership base of any public safety association. It serves the needs of public safety communications practitioners worldwide - and the welfare of the general public as a whole – by providing complete expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy and outreach.

Ryan has been with the Troy Police Department for over six years and is also a Lieutenant with the Troy Fire Department.  Ryan received this prestigious award based on the following: 

  • His abilities to keep the police network and associated equipment down-time to be well below the industry standards for public service.
  • His ability to train the lowest knowledgeable end-user with the skills to operate any computerized data equipment such as:  Mobile computer devices, mobile camera systems, mobile modems, desk-top computers and software, etc.
  • His knowledge and ability in web applications to write multiple time saving devices for communications personnel, thereby automating the multiple procedures to contact departmental personnel.
  • His personal relationship skill levels in providing IT service towards 136 departmental personnel.

Ryan also displays great patience; is very organized and is a true professional in assisting the department by keeping the IT side of support at such an extreme high level!
