Troy Police Investigating Shots Fired Near Somerset Mall

A dark gray, gray or silver SUV with a "boxy" body style, possibly a Dodge Durango, may have been involved in the incident, police said.

TROY, MI — Troy police are investigating a series of shots that were fired near Somerset Collection Mall and that led to two people being arrested, the department said Monday.

The shots were fired around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. Witnesses said they heard shots fired in the north parking lot of Neiman Marcus and called police, authorities said.

Police said that at the time of the incident, officers were responding to a report of a loud argument between two groups of men that happened inside the mall. It is unknown if the two incidents are related, but the shooting does not appear to be a random attack, police said.

Four vehicles in the parking lot, all unoccupied at the time, were struck by gunfire, police said. There are no known injuries at this time, and the motive for the shooting along with identities of those involved remain under investigation, police said.

Two people were arrested near the scene, police said, but their roles in the incident are currently under investigation.
