Troy Police Respond to Larcenies, Drugs, and More

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Breaking and entries

Stapels Manufacturing, 2612 Elliot, Nov. 18-19, 6:30 p.m. to 6:15 a.m.: Complainant reported he observed a window next to the front door, which had been kicked in. Complainant contacted officers who assisted in searching the business. Complainant advised $1,600 in cash was missing.

Drugs/narcotics

Rochester Road and Rankin, Nov. 18, 10:53 p.m.: Officers observed a vehicle occupied in the lot. The vehicle had a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. The driver had a glass jar with marijuana sitting in the console. The driver, a 29-year-old from Royal Oak was cited for possession of marijuana.

Mon Jin Lau, 15245 E. Maple Rd., Nov. 20, 10:19 p.m.: Officers observed an occupied vehicle in the parking lot. Officers approached the vehicle and observed a “bong” used for smoking marijuana under the driver’s legs. The officers discovered a baggie of marijuana inside the console. The passenger admitted the marijuana was his. The driver, a 21-year-old from Dublin, OH and the passenger, a 21-year-old from Tallmadge, OH were issued citations for possession of marijuana.

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs

John R Road and East Long Lake Road, Nov. 20, 10:56 p.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle that was not maintaining its lane. The vehicle had a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.  The driver admitted to taking prescription medication and did not have a medical marijuana card. Officers located a pipe used for smoking marijuana in the console of the vehicle. The driver, a 20-year-old from Rochester Hills failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating in the presence of drugs and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

Stephenson Highway and West Fourteen Mile Road, Nov. 21, 12:50 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle which had no tail lights activated. The driver was observed with glassy eyes an aroma of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver, a 55-year-old from Carmel, Indiana failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .12 percent.

West Big Beaver Road and Coolidge Highway, Nov. 21, 6:38 p.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after observing it weaving out of its lane. The driver appeared lethargic and admitted to taking prescription drugs. The driver, a 44-year-old from Oxford failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating under the presence of drugs. A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

Larcenies

6535 Rochester, Nov. 17-18, 11:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.: Complainant advised five air conditioning units were stolen from the exterior of the office building.

Alibi Restaurant, 6700 Rochester Rd., Nov. 19, 9:55 p.m.: Complainant reported she accidentally left her laptop in the restaurant. When she called the next day no one at the restaurant had the missing laptop.

Planet Fitness, 288 John R Rd., Nov. 21, 3-4 p.m.: Complainant advised he placed his coat and wallet in a locked locker. When he returned his locker was open and his wallet and coat were missing.

Larcenies from autos

Quality Inn, 2537 Rochester Ct., Nov. 19, 5:36 a.m.: Complainant stated he was outside the hotel when he observed two suspects at his work truck. When he tried to stop the suspects they ran. Missing from the truck was a toolbox worth $500. 

Chase Homeownership, 1235 E. Big Beaver Rd., Nov. 21, 7:15–11:45 a.m.: Complainant advised his Dodge Ram pick-up was parked in the lot. When he returned the front passenger window was smashed. Missing from inside was a radar detector.
