Typical Midwest heat and humidity will continue across Metro Detroit throughout midweek, with above-normal temperatures through Wednesday, when the 90s are possible.

The combination of higher humidity and sunshine will push heat indices into the mid-90s, according to AccuWeather.com.The average temperature for this time of year is 83 degrees Fahrenheit,

People with outdoor activities this week should stay hydrated, wear light clothes and take frequent breaks to avoid the dangerous effects of heat.

The region will see wet weather Wednesday afternoon into the evening as a cold front will bring a couple of showers and thunderstorms to the area.

Dry and more pleasant conditions are expected to return Thursday into Friday as humidity levels will be lower and high temperatures will be in the upper 80s.

Here’s the National Weather Service forecast for Metro Detroit:

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 89, north northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Mostly clear overnight, with a low around 70. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming south southeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.Mostly clear overnight, with a low around 71. South wind 3 to 6 mph.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Partly cloudy overnight, with a low around 68.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 84. Mostly clear overnight, with a low around 66.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 84. Partly cloudy overnight, with a low around 67.
