OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — Election Day is here. Many have read into each candidate, looked over every detail of their ballot proposals and have decided who they will be voting for at the polls Tuesday.

Some have even voted already, as a record number of Michiganders have cast ballots early, according to the Michigan Secretary of State office.

But if you need to do some last-second digging on some of the issues on your ballot in Oakland County, this guide can help.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday as voters will cast votes in local, state and federal elections.

In addition to a bevy of proposals on the November ballot, there are also several local candidate races.

It's also important to remember that election night results in Michigan may not be available until the early morning hours on Wednesday since clerks in Michigan are not permitted to count ballots received via mail prior to Election Day.

Polling Places

You can see where your polling location here by visiting the state of Michigan election website. Doing so provides voters with their polling location as well as other information, such as if the location is handicap accessible and the address of the location.

Proposals

Oakland County ballots in the Tuesday election will feature several local millages and proposals.

One such proposal relates to county parks, and on Tuesday Oakland County voters will decide whether to replace a millage that would result in an increase in funding for county parks, trails and recreation areas. You can read more about the proposal here.

Candidates

Several local races are taking place in Oakland County, as voters will decide who will be running in the sheriff's race and prosecuting attorney, to name a few.

In the race for sheriff, incumbent Republican Michael Bouchard is facing off against Democrat Vincent Gregory.

Other significant races include the race for Oakland County prosecuting attorney, where incumbent Jessica Cooper was defeated in the August primary. As a result, the county will have a new prosecutor once the November ballots are tallied. Democratic candidate Karen McDonald will challenge Republican Lin Goetz for the top spot Tuesday.
