Amid Defeat, Former Burnsville Quarterback Stands Out Against Iowa
Burnsville High School alumni Kamal Martin recorded his first collegiate career interception in the fourth quarter against Iowa.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers may have lost to Iowa 14-7 Saturday, but there was at least one bright spot. Kamal Martin, a Burnsville High School alumni who gradated in 2015 and a Gopher true freshman, recorded his first collegiate career interception in the fourth quarter against Iowa.
In choosing to play at the University of Minnesota, Martin also decided to switch from playing quarterback, as he did for the Burnsville Blaze, to linebacker.
As quarterback, Martin led Burnsville to its first state tournament appearance in 20 years, according to the Star Tribune.
