Burnsville PD Looks To Double Behavioral Health Unit: Report
Officials want to add a full-time sergeant, two full-time officers, a part-time civilian data specialist and a full-time social worker.
BURNSVILLE, MN — Burnsville Police Department is looking to more than double the size of its Behavioral Health Unit-a response program launched in January, Sun Thisweek said.
The department has predicted that by the end of the year, there will have been nearly 800 mental health calls logged, the publication reported.
The department wants to add a full-time sergeant, two full-time officers, a part-time civilian data specialist and a full-time social worker, according to the report.

The new positions aren't included in the 2022 budget yet, but city officials said they are willing to consider them, the report said.
