Burnsville Compost Site To Open For Buckthorn

Removing buckthorn is a challenge, but city officials say it's worth the fight to help local wildlife, prevent erosion and improve woods.

BURNSVILLE, MN — Buckthorn is an invasive plant species that has many negative impacts on the environment. Removing buckthorn is a challenge, but city officials say it’s worth the fight to help local wildlife, prevent erosion and make woods more usable.

To help the many dedicated residents removing buckthorn, the city of Burnsville will open its compost site (for buckthorn disposal only) the last weekend of every month June through September. The compost site will also be open for buckthorn every weekend in October.
