Burnsville Has Fallen Behind In Emergency Response: Fire Chief

There were over 150 times recently when the fire department and first responders didn't have available units to send during an emergency.

BURNSVILLE, MN— Due to decreasing staff levels and increased 911 calls, the city of Burnsville has fallen behind in emergency response, Southwest News Media reported.

The publication reported that in recent years, there were over 150 times when the fire department and first responders didn't have available units to send during an emergency, Burnsville Fire Chief BJ Jungmann told City Council last month.

Jungmann said that applicants looking to join Burnsville Fire Department has dropped 50 percent since 2014, the publication reported.

The city recently applied for a Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant, which would support three full-time employees for three years, the publication reported.
