Construction Schedule Released For Highway 13 In Burnsville

Officials are working to complete the Highway 13 corridor assessment by the fall.

BURNSVILLE, MN — The Minnesota Department of Transportation is evaluating potential improvements to Highway 13 between Highway 169 in Savage and Nicollet Avenue in Burnsville, including reconstruction around Dakota and Yosemite avenues.

The first construction focus area will be improving safety and freight access to the Ports of Savage at Dakota Ave. and Yosemite Ave.

  • Fall 2019 - Fall 2020: Complete corridor assessment
  • 2020: Reach community consensus on an ultimate vision for this segment of Highway 13
  • 2021: Complete environmental approvals for final design at Dakota Ave. and Yosemite Ave.; secure preliminary environmental approval of future improvements along the rest of the corridor
  • 2022: Complete final design, advertise and begin construction of improvements at Dakota Ave. and Yosemite Ave

Residents, business owners, motorists and anyone else interested in the future of Highway 13 through Burnsville and Savage are invited to share their knowledge of the Highway 13 corridor at the upcoming open house:

  • 5 – 7 p.m.
  • McColl Pond Environmental Learning and Event Center
  • 3550 Dakota Ave. S., Savage, MN 55378

Project staff will be on hand to present information about corridor conditions, receive public comments and answer questions, according to a news release. No formal presentation is scheduled. Those interested in attending can stop by at any time during the open house hours.
