Donation Helps Burnsville Fire Department Install Safety Devices
The donation will help the fire department purchase and install 145 pairs of cooking suppression devices for an apartment complex.

BURNSVILLE, MN— A donation from the Burnsville Lions will help the Burnsville Fire Department install fire safety devices in an apartment complex.
The Burnsville Lions made a $5,000 donation to the department, the City of Burnsville announced Monday morning.
The donation will help the fire department purchase and install 145 additional pairs of Auto-Out cooking suppression devices for Stone Grove Apartments, the city said.

The fire department delivered devices to Stone Grove Apartments in early March, but didn't have enough for every apartment, and the donation from the Burnsville Lions will ensure that the rest of the apartments in the complex can get the device as well the device, the city said.
The managers of Stone Grove Apartments told the fire department in February they wanted to buy enough passive cooking fire suppression devices for every apartment in the complex, but they didn’t have enough money for it.

Almost half of all structure fires in Minnesota in 2018 were cooking related, the city said, citing the 2018 Fire in Minnesota report released by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s office. The goal of these devices is to lower that number.
