Lindsey Vonn Won't Visit White House If Invited By Trump

Minnesota native Lindsey Vonn says she wouldn't visit the White House if she was invited, and she's not the only Olympic athlete to say so.

Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn, who first learned to ski on Buck Hill in Burnsville, says she will "absolutely not" visit President Donald Trump at the White House if she's invited after the February games in Pyeongchang.

Asked about what it means to compete for her country in the Olympics, Vonn, 33, told CNN, "I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president."

"I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremony," she continued. "I want to represent our country well. I don't think that there are a lot of people currently in our government that do that."

Vonn, a native of Saint Paul, is considered the "most successful" female ski racer in the world. She is the first American woman to win a downhill gold at the Olympics and the only American woman with four World Cup titles.

Vonn isn't the only U.S. Olympic athlete to distance herself from Trump. Free skier Gus Kenworthy and figure skaters Ashley Wagner, Nathan Chen and Adam Rippon have also said they won't visit the White House, reports USA Today.
