Public Comment Now Open For DOT Assessment Of Highway 13
The department identified needed improvements for the highway.
BURNSVILLE, MN — Public comment is now open for the Minnesota Department of Transportation's environmental assessment of Highway 13.
Highway 13 was assessed between Highway 169 in Savage and Nicollet Ave. in Burnsville to identify future improvements, the department said.
The DOT said it identified the following needs for improvement for the corridor:

- Highway 13 exceeds its traffic capacity resulting in traffic congestion and delays.
- Several intersections along Highway 13 have higher than average vehicle crashes.
- Highway 13 is not efficient or safe for trucks.
- People who walk or bike cannot move freely and safely in the corridor.
Comments on the findings will be accepted until July 8, the department said. There will also be a virtual public hearing June 28 with an in-person option as well, the department said.
