Savage Target Parking Lot Shooting: Teen Dies, 3 Arrested

SAVAGE, MN — The teen shot in the head in the parking lot of a Savage Target Friday has died, police said. Authorities made three arrests in the case Tuesday.

Taran Cortez Miller, 44, Prior Lake was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Tanya Marie Esthell Miller, 43, of Prior Lake was arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender

A 16-year-old from Prior Lake was arrested on suspicion of murder.

All three suspects are being held in the Scott County Jail but have not been formally charged, according to a news release. The case will be forwarded to the Scott County Attorney’s Office.

On Friday, Feb. 28 at about 7:30 p.m., the Savage Police Department responded to the west parking lot of Target on a report of a person bleeding from the head.

The teen was semi-conscious and breathing. He was located and transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center. The teen died from the wound Saturday.

This case is under investigation by the Savage Police Department with the assistance from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Prior Lake Police Department, Shakopee Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
