Dakota Curling Opening in Downtown Lakeville
Dakota Curling is moving to downtown Lakeville (in the space formerly occupied by Total Hockey) and will be opening in January 2017.

After renting ice at the Burnsville Ice Arena for more than 10 years, Dakota Curling is expanding to a dedicated curling club right in the middle of downtown Lakeville. Renovations will begin November 1st in the space formerly occupied by Total Hockey, and curling will begin in January.
Leagues are scheduled for Sundays - Fridays and registration is currently open. Leagues have been designed for a wide variety of curling experience, including Instructional Leagues for those who are brand-new to the sport. Several popular leagues are filling quickly.
Curling teams are made up of four people and generally can be any combination of men and women, with the exception of the Friday night Mixed League, which is for teams of two men and two women only. This is a social league that many couples may enjoy as a regular date night.

Dakota Curling will run two 8 week seasons, a Winter session from January through March and a Spring session from March - May. Curlers can join the club for an annual membership fee of $60, which covers insurance and club equipment upkeep. After that, each 8 week league costs $150 per player. Players who begin in the Instructional League can do so without having to pay the annual membership fee first.
While curling instruction is built into several leagues, there are also stand-alone two-hour Learn to Curl classes scheduled for the second week of January. Curling is a sport that can be played by people of all ages, physical fitness levels, and athletic experience.

The club itself will feature 6 sheets of ice (meaning six simultaneous games can be played), a large warm room with observation from multiple sides of the ice, and on-site bar and food service. Members of the public are welcome to come in to observe games at any time. The club can also be rented out for private curling events, and the warm room can be rented for community meetings.
Dakota Curling has joined both the Downtown Lakeville Business Association and the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce. For more information about leagues, classes, or private rentals, please visit the club's website at dakotacurling.org or call 952-479-0322.
