Heritage Library in Lakeville is hosting a Kwanzaa storytime on Friday.
Kwanzaa is a holiday that celebrates "family, community and culture." Dr. Maulana Karenga, an Africana Studies Professor at the University of California, created the holiday in 1966. Kwanzaa draws from African cultures and is celebrated over a seven-day period, from Dec. 26 through Jan. 1.
Friday's storytime at the library will include stories and activities about the holiday. The event is 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is targeted for children up to 6 years old.
