Lakeville Mom Got Drunk At Green Mill, Left Kids Home Alone: Cops

The woman admitted she left the children because she wanted hot wings from Green Mill, police said.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — A Lakeville mom is facing a child neglect charge after a trip to Green Mill went awry. Christine Teresa Jewle Smith, 26, was found lying on a snow-covered sidewalk just after 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 12, according to authorities.

Smith "appeared intoxicated" and "was unable to comprehend basic questions," the criminal complaint states.

Police said a preliminary breath test registered her with .28 blood-alcohol content. Later that night, law enforcement found the woman's two young children — ages 4 and 7 — home alone in her apartment, according to investigators.

The children’s grandfather was contacted and he agreed to watch the kids.

The children were left alone for approximately four hours between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., according to investigators. The woman admitted she left the children because she wanted hot wings from Green Mill, police said.
