Lakeville South High School Opens Food Pantry

Lakeville South High School is proud to announce the opening of their Food Pantry.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from the Lakeville Area Public School District.

Lakeville South High School is proud to announce the opening of their Food Pantry. The Food Pantry was initiated by Lakeville South High School students who saw a community need and took action by holding a food drive and securing a space in our school to store and organize the donated items. Thanks to their effort, the Food Pantry is now available to all students and families who would benefit from groceries.

"I would like to welcome all students at Lakeville South High School to the new food shelf.  This new resource is open to all students in need of food and personal items and is located inside our school.  Additionally, it has provided a unique opportunity for students to participate in a project that gives directly back to others within our school.   It has been rewarding to experience the cooperation and generosity of all the students and staff working together to support this invaluable resource," Margaret Gadek, Lakeville South High School student leader.

There are no specific eligibility requirements. The pantry is located in a private location in Lakeville South High School. Students can access the pantry any day of the school week by contacting Lisa Hansen, Student Support Specialist, their Dean of Students, or Tammy Mohn, Deans' Assistant / SADD Advisor, in Student Services. In order to maintain confidentiality, one of these staff members will take the student to the food pantry individually. Groceries are packed in backpacks, not grocery bags and will be held for the students until the end of the day. The Food Pantry is also open by appointment for parents to access after school from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. or in the mornings between 6:30 and 7:15 a.m.

Donations are being accepted through Student Services or the Activity Office. This food shelf is open to all families in the district. For access, please contact Lisa Hansen, Student Support Specialist at 952-232-3333 or Tammy Mohn at 952-232-3330.
