Lakeville Student Faces Punishment After Racist Graffiti Found In Bathroom Stall

A student is facing "disciplinary action" after school officials found racist and anti-Semitic graffiti on bathroom stalls at Lakeville South High School Monday.

Lakeville South parent Lynnae Linnell posted photos of the graffiti on Facebook, which features vulgar language and a swastika above the words "Hail the Ku Klux Klan," as well as a drawing of a lynching.

"So this is what my son found at his school today!" Linnell wrote. "Way to go Lakeville South! I thought we were better then this! Disappointed to the fullest! One mad mama right now!"

The Lakeville South High School administration said they received permission from the parent to share that the student is "non-Caucasian" and "has significant special education needs."

"While this does not excuse the student’s actions," the district said, "it will help the community and others put this incident into perspective."

School officials say due to the confidential nature of student discipline, they cannot provide additional information on the incident.

The Twin Cities metro has already seen several high profile racist and anti-Semitic incidents this year. Earlier this month, a Jewish University of Minnesota student found pro-Nazi language and imagery on his bedroom door.

Also in February, a Hmong family that moved to Oakdale reported that they were victims of racist vandalism.
