Board For Maple Grove Schools Vows To Fight Systemic Racism

A resolution passed last week commits the Osseo Area School District board to identify and root out racial injustice.

MAPLE GROVE, MN — The Osseo Area School District Board last week approved a resolution honoring George Floyd and committing the board to fight systemic racism. The measure passed July 21 states that while the mission of the district "supports all students, we cannot ignore the systemic racism Black and brown students face, and we are committed to fostering an environment where Black and brown students’ voices and experiences are valued."

The resolution also directs the board to honor Floyd’s life at its Aug. 25 meeting with 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence throughout the district. It will "promote this action to our school district community, which will allow our community to come together to heal and unify our district."
