Doctor Assaulted Patient At Maple Grove Clinic: Police
The Maple Grove doctor faces one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
MAPLE GROVE, MN — A doctor is accused of sexual assaulting a patient at North Memorial Health's Maple Grove clinic in May 2020. Javaid Saleem, 55, of Maple Grove faces one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Hennepin County.
Saleem was not arrested because he was charged through summons Tuesday. If convicted, Saleem faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.
On May 15, 2020, the Maple Grove Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault occurring earlier that day at the clinic.

During a routine examination, the patient said she had stomach issues, including bloating. Saleem told her he wanted to check her "bum," according to the criminal complaint. He asked her to undress, and without explanation, touched the patient's genitals, police said.
Later, the patient saw Saleem typing on the computer while having one hand tucked under his coat near his genital area, according to the criminal complaint.

The patient's medical records show no notes that a vaginal examination was completed on May 15, police said.
