First Day Back For Maple Grove Schools Will Be Delayed

The four extra days before school starts will not be added back into the calendar, officials said.

MAPLE GROVE, MN — The board of Osseo Area Schools Tuesday approved Supt. Cory McIntyre's recommendation for a delayed start to the academic year. The new first day of school is set for Monday, Sept. 14.

Officials say the delay will provide the following benefits:

  • "Assign staff to the Distance Learning Academy and adjust staff assignments in physical buildings"
  • "Revise master schedules at all schools, including the Distance Learning Academy"
  • "Provide additional training to staff in safety protocols and the effective delivery of instruction in the hybrid model"
  • "Provide time for staff to plan and prepare instruction in the event they have been assigned to teach at a new grade level or a new course within their subject area"

The four extra days before school starts will not be added back into the calendar, officials said.
