PHOTOS: Maple Grove Saw Nearly 10 Inches of Rain in 1 Night
Snowplows were used to push rainwater off Interstate 94 in Maple Grove last night.
Maple Grove received nearly 10 inches of rain during last night's storm.
Just before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service began advising Maple Grove residents to move to higher ground and be aware of flash floods in the area.
Police and fire crews responded to multiple calls as severe flooding began affecting many intersections and residential basements in the Maple Grove area.

Residents reported flooded basements and submerged cars.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office warned residents against traveling during the storm and reminded drivers to never travel through submerged motorways.

Many roads throughout the Twin Cities are still closed Thursday as crews work to cleanup the aftermath of the storm.

Some motorists in Maple Grove decided to take a chance and drive on closed roads Thursday morning:
The NWS advised residents to move to higher ground Wednesday evening when a flash flood warning was issued for Maple Grove until 10:45 p.m.

NWS issued a flash flood watch Wednesday that remains in effect for much of eastern and southern Minnesota as well as west central Wisconsin through Thursday.
