Hennepin Sheriff Offering Free Addiction, Overdose Class
The free class also covers the use of Naloxone, a life-saving drug that reverses opioid overdose.
HENNEPIN COUNTY, MN — Education is prevention. That's the message the Hennepin County Sheriff will send later this month when it hosts an online class all about the dangers of opioids, signs of addiction, treatment options and the proper use of Naloxone, a life-saving drug that reverses opioid overdoses.
The free class, scheduled for March 30, will be taught by licensed alcohol and drug counselor Randy Anderson, founder of Bold North Recovery and Consulting.
To join the class or to request a Deterra drug disposal bag, which can be used to deactivate and dispose of drugs, residents should send an email to drugdisposal@hennepin.us.

More classes could be added due to demand, the sheriff's office said. Additional classes will be announced on social media.
Local addiction and mental health resources are available area residents. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration National Helpline can be reached at 1-800-662-HELP (4357), and Hennepin County social services can be reached at 612-348-4111.
