Jazz@StBarney’s opens it’s 8th season with the Mary Louise Knutson Trio featuring bassist Geoff Brennan and drummer Greg Schutte. Knutson’s latest jazz trio CD, In the Bubble, ranked in JazzWeek’s Top 10 and remained on the chart for 19 weeks straight. “We’re doing some new material on this concert...tunes made popular by Horace Silver, Jobim, Ahmad Jamal, Oscar Peterson, etc, but you’ll also hear a few favorites from my latest CDs,” said Knutson.

Knutson tours regularly with former Tonight Show bandleader trumpeter Doc Severinsen and his big band (featuring two-time Grammy Award winner tenor saxophonist Ernie Watts), has toured the U.S. with her own group, the Mary Louise Knutson Trio, and Italy with vocalist Debbie Duncan. In 2006, she was a Minnesota Music Awards nominee for both Jazz Artist of the Year and Pianist of the Year, and in 2005, she was a Finalist in the Kennedy Center’s Mary Lou Williams “Women in Jazz” Pianist Competition.

Knutson has performed with such jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby McFerrin, Dianne Reeves, Kevin Mahogany, Ernie Watts, Nicholas Payton, Slide Hampton, and many more.
